Smarter Endgame Targeting Makes U4N More Useful For D4 Players

The latest Diablo 4 fixes have changed how players approach D4 items, particularly when the goal is to build a character around a specific Mythic or equipment slot. Earlier in the season, targeted farming was often frustrating because several bugs affected both the visibility and availability of valuable rewards.
Players who already had a large collection of D4 items could feel the problem even more clearly. They might have enough resources for a serious farming session, only to discover that certain bosses could not provide the desired Mythic or that an item was hidden by the loot filter.
The Main Problems Were More Than Bad Luck
It is easy to blame RNG when a Mythic does not appear, but the early-season situation involved more than ordinary bad luck.
The loot filter bug was one of the easiest problems to notice. Certain Mythics and newly crafted items could be hidden, creating situations where players potentially missed valuable rewards.
The more serious issue involved the drop tables themselves. Some Unique sources, including high-level Lair Bosses, were affected by a problem that prevented certain items from being rolled as Mythics.
For players targeting iconic pieces such as Harlequin Crest or The Grandfather, this made the situation particularly discouraging. These items were already rare, so losing opportunities through a broken loot system made expensive farming sessions feel pointless.
Patch 3.1.1 Starts A Major Shift
The changes introduced with Patch 3.1.1 and subsequent hotfixes addressed several major problems.
One of the most important changes was removing the restriction on crafting only one Mythic. This gives players much more freedom to use additional Mythics and experiment with different builds.
Corrupted Reaper also became a much stronger farming target. Its Mythic and Iconic Mythic drop rates were increased substantially, and the boss can provide Pandemonium Fragments.
The Cube upgrade cost was reduced as well. Players now need four fragments instead of five for a random slot Unique upgrade, which makes repeated attempts more affordable.
Guaranteed Rewards Change Session Planning
Torment 12 Undercity is another significant part of the new approach.
A Mythic Tribute can now result in a guaranteed Mythic Unique from the T12 chest. That does not mean players can choose any Mythic they want, but it does give the activity a reliable high-end reward.
This changes the psychology of farming. Instead of entering an activity knowing that every reward could be disappointing, players have situations where the outcome is guaranteed to have meaningful value.
For dedicated players, predictable rewards are often more useful than slightly better theoretical odds.
Building A Self-Sustaining Loop
Superior Lair Keys being available through the final repeatable Glints of Hope reputation cache also helps connect the different systems.
Players can complete endgame activities, earn reputation, open repeatable caches, collect keys and fragments, and then use those resources for boss farming. Successful farming can then help maintain the next session.
This is particularly useful for players who prefer spending a few hours on one focused farming goal.
Rather than constantly switching between unrelated activities, you can build a route around the materials and bosses that support your target.
Targeting A Specific Slot
The Horadric Cube gives this system another layer of control.
Imagine that your build needs a Mythic helm. Instead of viewing every Unique helm as an unwanted duplicate, you can collect suitable versions and use them for the upgrade process.
The result is not guaranteed to be the exact Mythic you want, but at least the resources are being directed toward the correct equipment slot.
This makes farming feel more intentional. Even an unsuccessful attempt can be part of a larger plan rather than simply another item to salvage.
Better Options For Build Experimentation
The removal of the one-Mythic crafting limit is also good news for players who like experimenting.
A duplicate Mythic no longer automatically feels like wasted potential. Players can build around different items, test alternative combinations, or keep equipment for another character.
This matters because Diablo 4's endgame becomes much more interesting when players have the freedom to change builds without feeling that every decision is permanent.
A broader Mythic pool also gives experienced players more reasons to continue farming after their primary build is complete.
What A Good Farming Session Looks Like
A strong session now starts with preparation. Check your loot filter, decide which slot or Mythic you are targeting, gather the appropriate materials, and choose activities that support that goal.
Do not immediately discard every duplicate Unique. Some can be useful for Cube upgrades, especially when you are focusing on one equipment slot.
Most importantly, think about the whole farming cycle rather than one individual run. The best sessions are those where reputation, keys, fragments, boss rewards, and Cube upgrades all contribute to the next attempt.
That approach also helps players decide whether they want to keep farming normally or consider alternatives such as d4 gear when they need to finish a build more quickly. Either way, knowing exactly which slot and item your character needs prevents unnecessary spending.
The recent changes do not eliminate RNG, but they make the endgame considerably easier to manage. Mythic farming now has more reliable rewards, stronger resource loops, and better slot targeting, giving players a clearer path from ordinary drops to a finished high-end build.
